Know what activities qualify for your professional development.
A guide to understanding which learning activities count towards your annual CPD requirements.
What Counts as CPD?
1. Quick Overview
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) helps you maintain competence, grow your expertise, and meet your professional obligations as a CIBA member.
2. Why It Matters
Maintains your professional credibility and compliance with CIBA and SAQA standards.
Keeps you up to date with changing legislation, tax, accounting, and ethics practices.
Supports your career growth by expanding your technical and professional skills.
Ensures license eligibility for practice or specialist renewal.
3. Step-by-Step: Understanding What Counts as CPD
Recognise the three CPD categories:
Verifiable CPD: Formal learning such as webinars, workshops, online courses, or assessments.
Non-verifiable CPD: Informal learning through reading professional publications, attending events, or mentoring.
CIBA has an in-house CPD platform which has all the categories of CPDs and advise its members to utilise the platform.
Access approved CPD activities on the CPD.MYCIBA
Log CPD correctly:
Verifiable CPD is recorded automatically when completed on CPD.MYCIBA.
Non-verifiable CPD must be logged manually with a short description of the learning activity.
Track your annual CPD hours in your CIBA profile (click here).
Ensure minimum annual compliance:
Follow the CIBA CPD policy for your specific designation and license type.
