How to clear arrears quickly, restore standing, and stay fee-compliant.

Handling overdue payments

1. Quick Overview (What This Is & Why It Matters)

Your account is suspended due to non-payment. While suspended, you cannot use CIBA designations (including Chartered designations) and your rewards for compliance are paused. Clear your balance to R0 (or set a compliant plan) to restore standing and access.

2. Step-by-Step Instructions (Action section)

  • Open your invoice: Login to your Membership Profile → Accounts → Invoices → open the latest invoice.
    Link: https://accounts.myciba.org/login

  • Review totals: Note your arrears and current invoice to see the amount to reach R0.

  • Choose how to pay:

    • Payment Portal (card/instant): allocation is immediate once successful—best for urgent restoration and cut-offs.

    • EFT: use your invoice number as the payment reference; allocation occurs when funds reflect.

    1. Need time? Set a plan (if still applicable):

    • 3 months: CBAP/BAP(SA) & specialist licence holders.

    • 6 months: all other membership/designation types.
Set within 20 days of the invoice date.

    • Channel 2 (Plus Option), if shown: choose Stay Enrolled or Opt Out (if your group allows) before paying.

    • Confirm restoration: Once payment is allocated (or your plan is active), your suspension lifts. Download your proof from the invoice screen.

3. What You’ll Need (Requirements)

  • Membership Profile access and invoice number.

  • A payment method (card for instant allocation, or bank for EFT).

  • Plan eligibility (3 or 6 months) if not settling in full; set within 20 days of invoice date.

  • Deadlines: cycle due dates 8 July / 8 January; early-bird dates apply to renewals only.

4. Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Paying only the renewal while arrears remain. Pay arrears + renewal together to R0 for early-bird and immediate restoration.

  • Relying on EFT right before a cut-off. Use the Payment Portal for immediate allocation.

  • Choosing the wrong plan length. 3 months (CBAP/BAP(SA)/specialist licence) vs 6 months (others).

  • Missing the 20-day window to set a plan.
