Your professional journey with CIBA begins by creating your membership profile which allows you to apply for memberships, designations, licenses, corporate membership and Accredited Training Office, etc. Knowing how to start a new application ensures your journey is smooth and efficient.
2. What You Need to Know
Your CIBA Member Portal makes it easy to apply for membership, designations, or licenses. The process is designed to be step-by-step, with prompts for each section.
Applications begin with membership registration:
Complete your profile details.
Upload your ID and CV.
Pay the membership fee.
Once your membership is active, you can start a new application for a professional designation (Bookkeeper through CFO), a license (e.g., Tax Practitioner).
All professional growth with CIBA whether it’s applying for your first membership, upgrading to a designation, or requesting a CPD exemption, begins with the “My Applications” section of your portal.
Here you can:
Apply for a membership if you’re new to CIBA.
Apply for a designation (Bookkeeper through CFO).
Apply for a license (such as Tax Practitioner).
Apply for CPD exemption if applicable.
Apply for Corporate Membership and Accredited Training Office (ATO)
Each application type has its own requirements, such as documents, payments, or assessments. By keeping your profile details complete (personal info, qualifications, work experience), you’ll avoid delays in processing.

4. How to Start a New Application
Step 1: Membership Registration
Go to CIBA Membership Application.
Enter your email, create a password, and confirm with a One-Time Pin (OTP).
Complete your personal and professional details:
Name, nationality, ID number, date of birth.
Current status, job role, employer, work experience.
Highest level of education and sector/industry.
Upload your certified ID and updated CV.
Pay the annual membership fee: R1,480.
Accept CIBA’s Code of Conduct, T&Cs, and Privacy Policy.
Step 2: Apply for a Designation
Log in to the member portal → navigate to My Applications.
Choose your designation.
Pay the designation fee (annual or monthly option).
Upload required supporting documents (qualifications, experience letters).
Complete your assessment or interview.
Submit 2 mandatory CPD entries to activate your designation.
5. Common Mistakes to Avoid
Leaving profile sections incomplete.
Do this instead: Ensure all “incomplete” tags in My Information are updated first.Uploading unclear or uncertified documents.
