Paying Designation or Licence Fees

A qualification gets you in the door. A designation keeps you in the game — and makes sure people pay you what you’re worth.

1. Quick Overview

  • Who this page is for: CIBA members who earned a designation and/or obtained specialist licences.

  • Ways to pay:

  • Payment Portal: card/instant methods with immediate allocation—best for cut-offs and status continuity. CIBA

  • EFT: use your invoice number as reference; allocation occurs when funds reflect.

  • Plans: Up to 3 months (CBAP’s) or 6 months (other designations), subject to cycle/timing rules (arrangements must be set within 20 days of the invoice date; no early-bird discount on plans).

  • Early-bird discount (renewals): 10% / 7.5% if  - and only if - you settle your entire balance (arrears + renewal) to R0 in one transaction by the cut-off. Not available on debit orders/recurring.

2. Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Open your invoice: Login to your Membership Profile → Accounts → Invoices → open the latest invoice.
    Link: https://accounts.myciba.org/login
(General tips on where to find things in your profile are covered in our blog: “Manage your Membership Account with Ease”)

  • Review your items: Confirm the specific designation and/or licence lines (e.g., Tax Practitioner, Independent Review).

  • Choose how to pay:

    1. Payment Portal (recommended): pay by card/instant method; allocation is immediate once successful. CIBA

    • EFT: use your invoice number as reference; funds allocate when they reflect.

    • NB! CBAP’s on Channel 2 (Plus Option): Tax Practitioner & Independent Review licence fees are included — no extra payment to CIBA. Just apply and meet the requirements.

    1. Renewals—want early-bird discount?

      • July cycle: 10% by 31 May, 7.5% by 30 June.

      • January cycle: 10% by 30 Nov, 7.5% by 31 Dec.

      • Rule: pay arrears + renewal together to R0 in one transaction; not available on debit orders/recurring.

    1. Need time? Set a plan:

      • 3 months: CBAP/BAP(SA)

      • 6 months: other designations.

      • Set within 20 days of the invoice date; no early-bird discount on plans.

    1. Channel 2 (Plus Option), if shown: In the pop-up, choose Stay Enrolled or Opt Out (if your group allows) before paying.

    1. Finish & save proof: Complete payment and download your receipt. For general account navigation pointers, see Account FAQs.

3. What You’ll Need

  • Eligibility: Meet any admission/eligibility requirements for your designation/licence.

  • Payment option: Payment Portal (instant allocation) or EFT (allocates when funds reflect). CIBA

  • Plan length (if needed): 3 months (CBAP) or 6 months (other designations); set within 20 days of invoice date.

  • Deadlines: 7 days from invoice date / 8 July / 8 January due dates; early-bird discount dates above (applicable to renewals).

4. Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Expecting early-bird discount on a payment plan. Early-bird discount applies only to full, single-transaction settlement to R0.

  • Using EFT too close to a cut-off. Prefer the Payment Portal for immediate allocation.

  • Assuming everyone gets 6 months. CBAP designation holders are 3 months; other designations 6 months.

  • Skipping the Channel 2 (Plus Option) pop-up. Confirm Stay Enrolled or Opt Out (if allowed) before paying.
