1. Resigning Your Membership

Thinking of leaving CIBA? Here’s how to resign responsibly.

Step-by-step guide to formally resigning your membership while remaining compliant with CIBA’s Terms and Conditions.

2. Quick Overview (What This Is & Why It Matters)

Resigning your membership formally ensures your record is closed correctly and in line with CIBA’s Membership Terms and Conditions.

By following the official resignation process, you:

  • Avoid continued billing or incorrect status updates.

  • Your professional designation is de-registered from SAQA in accordance with compliance rules.

  • Leave CIBA in good standing, should you wish to reinstate in the future.

  • Failure to follow the proper process may result in continued billing or your record being marked as suspended rather than resigned

3. Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Log into your CIBA profile via the Member Portal.

  2. Ensure all outstanding membership fees and obligations are settled before submitting your resignation.

  3. Complete the Membership Resignation Form (available upon request from Membership Support).

  4. Log a ticket and submit a completed form with the subject line: “Membership Resignation – [Your Membership Number]”.

  5. Once received, the Membership Department will review your profile for outstanding fees or compliance requirements.

  6. You’ll receive a confirmation email once your resignation is processed and your account is officially closed.

4. What You’ll Need

  • CIBA login credentials.

  • Completed Resignation Form (downloadable upon request).

  • Proof of settlement of any outstanding invoices.

  • Email access for confirmation and final communication.

  • Resignations should be submitted at least 30 days before your next billing cycle to avoid additional invoicing.

5. Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Not submitting a formal resignation form.

  • Always send the completed form to ensure your resignation is recorded officially.

  • Leaving outstanding fees unpaid.

  • Settle all invoices before resigning to avoid further billing or collection processes.

  • Assuming the membership will cancel automatically.

  • Memberships do not terminate automatically — a written request is required.

  • Failing to update contact details.

  • Ensure your contact information is current to receive confirmation of your resignation.
