1. Uploading Supporting Documents

A qualification gets you in the door. A designation keeps you in the game and makes sure people pay you what you’re worth.

2. What You Need to Know

  • When you apply for CIBA membership you’ll be asked to upload specific documents. These documents are used to:

    • Verify your identity.

    • Confirm your qualifications and work experience.

    • Support compliance with SAQA, SARS, and other regulators.

According to the CIBA Membership Application page and the Join CIBA membership information, the most important documents are a certified copy of your ID/Passport and an updated CV.

3. Why It Matters to You

  • Faster approvals — certified, complete documents prevent delays.

  • Credibility — verified qualifications strengthen your professional profile.

  • Compliance — ensures CIBA can report accurately to SAQA and SARS.

  • Security — documents are stored safely within your portal.

4. What to Upload

  • Certified copy of your ID or Passport (required).

  • Updated CV (use CIBA’s downloadable CV template if needed).

5. How to Apply

  • Log in to your CIBA Member Portal.

  • Go to My Information or My Applications, depending on what you’re applying for.

  • Select the correct document type (ID, CV, qualification, etc.).

  • Click Upload, choose your file (PDF), and confirm certification where required.

  • Save your updates and check that the file appears under your profile.

6. Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Uploading uncertified or blurry ID copies.
Do this instead: Upload a clear, certified copy.

  • Leaving professional details blank.
Do this instead: Complete all sections, even if you are a student or self-employed.

  • Thinking membership = designation.
Do this instead: Apply separately for your designation under My Applications.

  • Forgetting annual compliance tasks.
Do this instead: Remember that CPD, annual declarations, and assessments keep your membership valid.
