Governance You Can Trust
Since 1987, CIBA has been recognised by law as a professional body. That recognition doesn’t come easy — it’s earned through strict governance, transparent reporting, and constant oversight.
Governance isn’t paperwork. It’s how we protect your designation, safeguard the public, and make sure accountants are trusted to strengthen businesses and grow GDP.

How SAQA, CIPC & SARS Measure Us
Being a recognised professional body means passing annual tests of credibility. Here’s what SAQA and regulators check:
Legal Status: Must be an NPC (CIPC-registered) or NPO (DSD-registered).
Governance: A proper charter/MOI, board, and good corporate governance.
Transformation: Policies and practices aligned with SA demographics.
Resources: Independent staff and sufficient finances to deliver sustainably.
Operational Capacity: Real offices, systems, and facilities.
Financial Sustainability: 3 years of audited or independently reviewed financials.
Professional Designations: At least one SAQA-registered designation.
Code of Conduct & Ethics: Published, enforced, and supported by complaints processes.
CPD: Ongoing professional development for members.
Data Management: Member data submitted annually to the National Learners’ Records Database (NLRD).
Public Engagement: Sharing career information and promoting public trust in the profession.
Renewal Oversight: Recognition reviewed every 5 years via monitoring and evaluation.
