Step-by-step guide to showcasing your Chartered status professionally and correctly.

Displaying Your Chartered Status

1. Quick Overview

  • Displaying your Chartered designation is a mark of excellence — it signals integrity, competence, and compliance. Using your title correctly protects the reputation of all Chartered members and upholds CIBA’s recognition under SAQA. It also reinforces your credibility with clients, employers, and regulators.

2. Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Confirm your eligibility. Ensure your Chartered status has been formally awarded and that your membership, CPD, Ethics, and Annual Declaration are up to date.

  2. Use the official title. Always display your designation in full, e.g., Chartered Business Accountant in Commerce (CBAC).

  3. Add it to professional documents. Include your Chartered designation after your name on CVs, invoices, proposals, and reports.

  4. Update your email signature. Display your Chartered title with the CIBA Member logo and your verified digital badge (via PrivySeal, if available).

  5. Showcase in your office. Frame and display your physical Chartered certificate prominently at your workplace.

  6. Go digital. Add your PrivySeal or digital badge link to your LinkedIn, website, or online profiles for instant verification.

  7. Follow brand guidelines. Review the CIBA Member Brand Guide to ensure consistent, compliant use of logos and titles.

3. What You’ll Need

  • Active CIBA membership in good standing.

  • Official Chartered designation approval and certificate.

  • CIBA Member Brand Guide (available on your CIBA account).

  • Updated CPD and Ethics declarations.

  • PrivySeal or equivalent verified digital credential (for online use).

4. Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Using the Chartered title before approval
→  Wait until your official certificate and digital badge are issued.

  • Incorrect wording or abbreviations
→ Use only CIBA-approved titles (e.g., Chartered Business Accountant in Commerce (CBAC)).

  • Displaying while suspended or lapsed
→ Renew membership and compliance before using your title.

  • Combining non-CIBA designations
→ Keep your professional branding aligned with approved CIBA titles.

  • Editing logos or digital badges
→ Use official versions only, no cropping, recoloring, or alterations.
