
UNISA Course in Basic Principles of Financial Statement Analysis and Interpretation (FAIN018)
The objective of this course is to equip the student with a well-founded knowledge of the following: The nature and contents of financial reports and the principles and practices.
Course Accreditation
This course is accredited on the NQF at level 5 with UNISA as the accrediting institution. You will receive a certificate issued by the University once you have successfully completed the course.
The course is developed and presented by UNISA. CIBA provides additional support to students through its e-learning, online contact sessions and webinars, thereby significantly increasing the pass rate of students.

Persons who do basic accounting work (i.e. budgeting and/or budgeting control and analysis of financial and other results) in the following sectors:
- Industry, trade, finance and professional services, or
- Government departments, public office and municipalities.
Admission Requirements
Senior certificate, or an equivalent NQF level 4 qualification.
Course Content
The content is divided into manageable topics. A student number is issued to you by UNISA once the registration and first payment is received. Thereafter you will receive access to your online study room providing access through AcadamyOne to multi-media lectures, quizzes and further study material linked to each topic. The course instructor will provide you with academic support through the online discussion forum for the duration of the course.

Language
The teaching medium will be English and Afrikaans.
Registration and Course Duration
Registrations at AcademyOne open 6 September 2016. Course duration is from 1 November 2016 to 31 June 2017. Course consist of both distance learning and online training. Available throughout South Africa. Video tutorials available from 1 November 2016. AcademyOne will submit the registration for each student at UNISA. Candidates are formally registered as students from UNISA.

UNISA study guides, tutorial letters, and assignments will be made available to you during the course. Students will also receive access to MyUNISA when the formal UNISA registration is completed in February 2017.

Assessment And Award Of The Certificate
This course will be taught by means of distance education, communication through study guides, tutorial, letters, assignments and solutions, which will be supplied as the course progresses. A two-hour exam will be written in Oct/Nov 2017
Formative assessment and examination admission will comply with UNISA’s formative assessment rules and policies.
