Terms and conditions

1. The promoter

These offers are made by the Chartered Institute for Business Accountants NPC (CIBA).

2. Offer period

The offers run from 2 November 2026 until 23:59 (South African time) on Monday 30 November 2026, unless a different date is stated below.

3. The offers

3.1 New applications. 50% off the CIBA membership fee and 50% off the applicable designation fee for new applicants, including members of other professional bodies, whose application and payment are completed in the offer period. The discount applies to the first annual membership fee and the first annual designation fee. For the CFM and CCFO designations, the discount applies to the designation fee. The once-off application fee (R2,500 for CFM and R5,500 for CCFO) is not discounted and is payable in full. Former members whose membership was cancelled after inactivity may use only the reinstatement offer in 3.4.

3.2 Designation applications. 50% off the applicable designation fee for active CIBA members who submit a designation application in the offer period. The discount applies even if the invoice is issued after the offer period, provided that the invoice is paid in full by its due date. If it is not paid by then, the standard fee is payable. For the CFM and CCFO designations, the discount applies to the designation fee. The once-off application fee (R2,500 for CFM and R5,500 for CCFO) is not discounted and is payable in full.

3.3 CIBASETTLE for suspended members. The CIBASETTLE offer applies to suspended members who have outstanding membership fees due to non-payment, in accordance with section 13.6 of the CIBA Membership Policy. The offer is available only to suspended members who have three (3) or four (4) unpaid annual membership invoices. Eligible members must settle the current year's membership fee and, where applicable, the relevant designation fee within the offer period. Once the required payment is received, outstanding membership fees and designation fees for previous years are cancelled in accordance with these terms. CIBASETTLE is not available after 23:59 on Monday 30 November 2026.

  • 3.3.1 Suspended members with fewer than three (3) or more than four (4) unpaid annual membership invoices are excluded from the offer.
  • 3.3.2 Members with existing payment arrangements or payment plans with CIBA are excluded from the offer. A member may not cancel a payment arrangement or payment plan in order to qualify. A member whose payment arrangement or payment plan was in place on 2 November 2026 remains excluded, even if the arrangement or plan is later cancelled.
  • 3.3.3 Cancellation of historical outstanding fees is conditional on payment of the applicable fees within the offer period.
  • 3.3.4 Members remain subject to all applicable CIBA membership, designation and compliance requirements.

3.4 Reinstatement of cancelled dormant accounts. Members whose membership was cancelled due to inactivity in accordance with section 12.2 of the CIBA Membership Policy may qualify for reinstatement under this offer. Eligible members must submit a reinstatement application and settle the newly issued invoice within the offer period, from 2 November to 30 November 2026. Once payment is received within the offer period, all historical outstanding invoices are cancelled and the member keeps their existing membership number. Reinstatement remains subject to the applicable screening process and designation requirements. A previous designation is restored only if the member passes that screening and meets the applicable requirements.

3.5 Tax Practitioner Specialist Licence: Compiler. CIBA designation holders who meet the applicable licence requirements and submit their applications in the offer period (2 to 30 November 2026) qualify for a once-off discounted application fee of R1,070 instead of the standard fee of R2,140. The discount applies to the initial application fee only. On renewal, the standard licence renewal fee is payable in full.

3.6 Short courses, the Business Rescue Specialist course and CPD bundles. From 2 November 2026 until 23:59 (South African time) on Monday 30 November 2026, the following applies to purchases on cpd.myciba.org:

  • 3.6.1 The short learning programmes and the Business Rescue Specialist exam and preparation listed on myciba.org/black-november-learning are offered at 50% off the regular price.
  • 3.6.2 The CPD bundles listed on that page are offered at 25% off the regular price.
  • 3.6.3 The discounted price is shown automatically on cpd.myciba.org. No promo code is needed.
  • 3.6.4 The offer is open to CIBA members and non-members, except that applicants for the Business Rescue Specialist exam and preparation must meet the normal Business Rescue licence criteria. Buyers must check that they meet those criteria before purchasing. The criteria apply to the licence and not to the course, and a buyer who does not meet them is not entitled to a refund of the course fee on that ground.
  • 3.6.5 The price includes the course material, assessments and certificate.
  • 3.6.6 Buyers have access to a course for 12 (twelve) months from the date of purchase, after which access continues only for as long as the course remains available on cpd.myciba.org.
  • 3.6.7 Refunds of purchases under this clause 3.6 are dealt with under clause 22.3 of the Terms and Conditions of Use, and the cooling-off rights in clause 23 of the Terms and Conditions of Use apply to those purchases.

4. Eligibility and requirements

All membership, designation and licence requirements still apply. A discount does not guarantee approval of an application. CIBA may verify eligibility before applying a discount or cancellation.

These offers apply to all CIBA members and applicants, including those registered in Namibia. Where a member or applicant pays the Namibian fee, the discount is applied to the applicable Namibian fee. The offer in 3.6 is also open to non-members.

5. General

  • All prices include VAT.
  • Offers cannot be exchanged for cash and cannot be combined with other discounts on the same fee.
  • Members who renew with the early-payment renewal discount may also apply for a designation at the Black November price. These are separate fees.
  • Payments under these offers are once-off and in full, through My Account > Invoices at accounts.myciba.org. Debit orders and payment plans are not available. Purchases under 3.6 are paid in full on cpd.myciba.org.
  • Discounts do not apply to fees already paid before the offer period.
  • From 1 December 2026, standard fees apply, except to designation applications submitted in the offer period under clause 3.2.
  • CIBA may amend or withdraw these offers only if the law requires it or to correct an obvious error. Any change will be published on this page and will not affect an application submitted, or a payment made, before the change is published.
  • These offers are once-off promotional offers that are available only during the offer period. They do not create any right or expectation that CIBA will make the same or a similar offer again, and they do not reduce the fee payable on any renewal. Renewals are invoiced at the standard fee that applies at the time of renewal.
  • If you join under the new applications offer in 3.1, you will be placed in the January billing cycle. The discounted membership and designation fees you pay under this offer cover your membership until your next annual invoice, which will be issued in the January 2028 billing cycle with fees due on or before 8 January 2028. You will not receive a further annual membership or designation invoice before then.
  • The CIBA Terms and Conditions of Use apply in full to every application, payment and reinstatement made under these offers and remain binding. Where these terms conflict with the Terms and Conditions of Use, these terms apply only to the extent of the conflict and only to the offer concerned.
  • Refunds of fees paid under the offers in 3.1 to 3.5 are dealt with under clauses 13.12 and 20.8 of the Terms and Conditions of Use, refunds of purchases under 3.6 are dealt with under clauses 22.3 and 23 of the Terms and Conditions of Use, and all refunds are calculated on the discounted amount actually paid. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
  • If a payment made under the offers in 3.3 or 3.4 is reversed, refunded or cancelled for any reason, the cancellation of older unpaid fees or old invoices lapses and those amounts are again due and payable.

6. Callback requests

If you ask us to call you, we use your name, phone number and email address only to contact you about these offers. Your details are stored by our customer relationship management service provider, which processes them on our behalf under a written agreement and may not use them for any other purpose. Unless you become a member, we keep your details for no longer than six months after the offer period. You may ask us at any time to stop contacting you or to delete your details by emailing ciba@myciba.org. The CIBA Privacy Policy explains your rights.
