Your supporting documents form the foundation of your CIBA profile. Submitting clear, certified documents ensures your membership and designation applications are verified quickly and without unnecessary delay
1. Uploading Supporting Documents
2. What You Need to Know
Submitting the correct documents is a critical part of your CIBA application process. To avoid delays in the assessment of your application, please ensure that all files are complete, legible, and correctly labelled before uploading them
- Upload Clear, Complete Files: Ensure all documents are high-quality, legible, and include all required pages. Accepted formats: PDF, JPG, or PNG.
- Use Correct File Names: Label files clearly (e.g., ID – John Smith or Qualification – BCom Accounting) to help speed up verification.
- Submit Valid & Certified Documents: All documents must be current, authentic, and certified where required. Foreign qualifications must include South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) evaluation.
- Match Application Details: Information on documents must match your application (e.g., name, ID number). Missing or incorrect details cause delays.
- Upload Securely & Track Confirmation: Only upload through the official CIBA portal, not email. You’ll receive confirmation once uploaded, and the team will notify you if anything is outstanding.
4. What to Upload
Different documents are required for different membership types, depending on whether you are applying as a general member, for a designation, or for a specialist license.
All applicants must provide core documents such as a certified ID or passport, qualification certificates, and proof of employment. Additional documents may be required based on your membership type — for example, competency letters for designation applications, work permits and SAQA evaluations for foreign applicants, and criminal checks or Tax Compliance Status PINs for specialist license applications
3. Why It Matters to You (Impact section)
- Faster approvals — certified, complete documents prevent delays.
- Credibility — verified qualifications strengthen your professional profile.
- Compliance — ensures CIBA can report accurately to SAQA and SARS.

- Thinking membership = designation.
Do this instead: Apply separately for your designation under My Applications.
- Forgetting annual compliance tasks.
