1. Switching Your SARS RCB to CIBA (Tax Practitioners)

Keep your tax practitioner status compliant while you transfer to CIBA.

2. What You Need to Know

  • After your Tax Practitioner License has been activated on CIBA’s side, remember to update your RCB at SARS to CIBA.

3. Why It Matters to You

  • Managed correctly, your tax practitioner number remains the same; only the controlling body changes.

4. Step by Step Instructions

  • Receive your CIBA Tax Practitioner license/approval.

  • Update your RCB to CIBA in SARS eFiling and save the confirmation.

  • Verify your SARS profile lists CIBA as your RCB and file the proof in your compliance records.

  • Resignation note: Submit all required documents, read the T&Cs/cancellation policy, and only end your previous body’s membership once the transfer is fully completed.

5. What you will need

  • Active CIBA status (and any required license)

  • Existing tax practitioner number

  • Recent CPD record (if requested by SARS)

6. Common Mistakes to Avoid (if applicable)

  • Don’t: Delay the RCB change — Instead, do: switch immediately after approval to avoid a compliance gap.

  • Don’t assume SARS updates automatically — Instead, do: complete the request and save the confirmation.
