Get back on track with your professional designation.
Step-by-step guide to reinstating your membership after it has lapsed or been cancelled.

1. How to Reinstate a Lapsed Membership

2. Quick Overview

  • If your membership has lapsed due to non-payment or non-compliance, you can reinstate it by meeting CIBA’s reinstatement requirements.
    Doing so ensures you:

    • Recover your professional designation and SAQA recognition.

    • Regain access to CPD, practice licences, Membership Certificate, Letters of Good Standing, and other CIBA Rewards

    • Avoid starting a new application process from scratch.

Failure to reinstate within the prescribed period may mean you need to apply as a new member

3. Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Log into your CIBA profile on the Member Portal

    • Navigate to Billing and check all outstanding invoices.

    • Pay invoices in full or request a payment arrangement if eligible.

    • Download and complete the Reinstatement Form (provided by Membership Support).

    • Upload the completed form to your profile or email it to Membership Support.

    • Submit your Annual Declaration online.

    • Update your CPD record (Depending on a type of membership).

    • Await confirmation from CIBA that your membership has been reinstated to Good Standing.

    • Once reinstated, download your updated Membership Certificate and resume your benefits.

4. Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Paying invoices but not completing the reinstatement form.
Always submit the required form to formalise reinstatement.

  • Ignoring CPD compliance.
Upload and log your CPD before requesting reinstatement.

  • Not submitting the Annual Declaration.
Payment alone does not reinstate membership compliance steps are required.

  • Waiting too long.
Reinstatement is time-sensitive after certain periods, a full new application may be required.
