CIBA recognises diverse educational and career paths into accounting. That’s why our application process focuses on who you are, your work experience, and your professional integrity.

When you apply, you are building your CIBA profile. This profile is used to:

  • Verify your eligibility for membership and designations.

  • Issue certificates, letters of good standing, and digital credentials.

  • Keep you compliant through CPD, annual declarations, and assessments.

The process is guided by your relevant membership administrator, who supports you until your application has been completed.

4. Information & Documents Checklist

  • Personal Information

    • Full name and surname.

    • South African ID number or passport.

    • Date of birth.

    • Nationality.

    • Mobile number (for OTP verification).

    • Email address (used for login and communication).

    • Employer or institution name (write N/A or “self-employed” if applicable).

    • Total years of work experience.

    • Highest level of education.

    • Criminal record declaration (excluding traffic fines).

    • Confirmation of which CIBA designation you wish to pursue after membership.

    • Acceptance of CIBA’s Code of Conduct, T&Cs, and Privacy Policy

5. How to Apply

  • Gather all documents listed above.

  • Go to CIBA Membership Application.

  • Complete the online form with your details.

  • Upload your certified ID and updated CV.

  • Verify your mobile number via OTP.

  • Pay the membership fee

  • Once registered and approved, go to My Applications in your portal to apply for your designation.


6. Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Uploading uncertified or blurry ID copies.
     Do this instead: Upload a clear, certified copy.

  • Leaving professional details blank.
    Do this instead: Complete all sections, even if you are a student or self-employed.

  • Thinking membership = designation.
    Do this instead: Apply separately for your designation under My Applications.

  • Forgetting annual compliance tasks.
    Do this instead: Remember that CPD, annual declarations, or assessments keep your membership valid.
